Sarah Faux
Whose work are you loving these days?
Patty Chang, Carol Rama, Brandon D. Landers, Catalina Ouyang
What is a typical day in the studio like for you?
I spend a long time practicing before I paint: drawing from life, working on compositional studies, mixing up a palette, prepping my surfaces. On lucky days I’m ready to start a painting. I’ll put an album on repeat and work fast, wet into wet, for long stretches, wiping out anything I don’t like and re-painting it. Lately, I’ve been pushing myself to make some one-shot paintings, but that can’t happen everyday.

What’s on your mind?
How body movements and hand gestures convey inner emotional states. That and mirroring, both the actual experience of looking in a mirror and the abstract experience of seeing oneself from the outside.
What’s your dream project?
Making more paintings!
