Whose work are you loving these days?

I have to say this digital art world that we’ve been forced to delve deep into has been amazing for new artist discoveries. I think just because everything is having to become much more accessible and therefore easier to discover. Artists I am loving these days are: Lisa Brice, Nettle Grellier, Antonia Showering, Anthony Cudahy, Amy Beager and Sara Berman to name only a few.

What book is on your nightstand?

Magnum streetwise - This is a recent gift from my boyfriend. I love intriguing street photography.

John Berger - ways of seeing

Great Women Artists

Klara and The Sun - Kazuo Ishiguro - ( to read next! )

What’s on your mind?

As always, I’m working on about 10 things at once. Something in particular that I’ve been working on is this series of much smaller portraits. Having always focused on portraying a sense of community within my work, I began shifting towards more solitary subjects this last year, reflecting on the loneliness of lockdown. It just sort of felt more relevant. I aim to trigger a feeling of nostalgia, whilst also crossing the boundary between the anticipation of the unknown.

However... as we venture out and into normality again, I have plans to go big again with different types of gatherings of people!

How does the body - yours and others' - influence your work?

The human body occupies  all of my paintings. I enjoy painting figures, usually female, dressed in costumes or clothing that distorts the familiar to seem unfamiliar.

Molly lives and works in London.
